Puan Regarding Recess Funds Cut To 22 Points: I First Discussed With Other Leaders

Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, responded to the decision of the Honorary Council (MKD) asking the DPR RI General's Secretariat (Kesetjen) to cut the recess budget for members of the DPR to 22 points.

Puan said that she would first discuss with other DPR leaders regarding the consequences of the MKD decision.

"Yes, because the points are reduced, there should be a budget reduction. So I will discuss the consequences of the decision first with other leaders," said Puan at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, November 6.

Puan said there was no plan for a leadership meeting to discuss the decision. He said he would only coordinate with other leaders to arrange the time, because the MKD only decided yesterday's reduction in recess funds.

"Not yet (the meeting). Because the decision was only completed yesterday, I will discuss it with other leaders first," said Puan.

Previously, the MKD asked the Secretariat General of the DPR RI to cut the recess budget for members of the DPR to 22 points because the recess points in 2025 were considered ineffective. The decision was read out by Deputy Chairman of the MKD Adang Daradjatun in a session held to address the dynamics related to the 2025 recess funds in the MKD courtroom, parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, November 5 yesterday.

Given the dynamics that occurred regarding the recess funds carried out by members of 2025, Adang said that the MKD considered it necessary to supervise and address the dynamics in the community, in order to prevent violations of the code of ethics and misuse of funds, and hold MKD hearings with cases without complaints.

MKD stated that the recess funds are the budget provided to finance work activities in the electoral district (dapil) of each member during the recess period which aims to absorb the aspirations of the community.

In their consideration, the MKD assessed that the implementation of the recess was in direct contact with the public so that it could potentially become public attention. MKD also asked DPR members to be responsible for the recess funds.
