Unemployment In Jakarta Investigates, Most High School Graduates Don't Work

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that 330 thousand people from 5.46 million workforces in Jakarta were still unemployed based on the results of the August 2025 National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas).

Head of DKI Jakarta BPS Nurul Hasanudin said the number had decreased by 7,660 people compared to the same period the previous year, which was 338 thousand people in August 2024.

"There were 330 thousand unemployed people, previously in August 2024 there were 338 thousand people. So, there was a slight decline," said Nurul in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, November 5.

BPS noted that the number of working-age residents in Jakarta reached 8.43 million people, an increase of 65,800 people compared to August 2024.

Of these, 5.46 million people are included in the workforce, while 2.97 million people are not workforces such as students, housewives, and retirees.

Of the total workforce, about 5.13 million people have worked, while the rest are still looking for work.

The DKI Jakarta Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in August 2025 was recorded at 6.05 percent, a decrease of 0.16 percentage points compared to August 2024. This means that there are about six unemployed people out of every 100 people in the workforce.

When viewed from gender, male TPT reached 6.21 percent, higher than women by 5.79 percent.

Meanwhile, based on the latest education, the most unemployment came from graduating from public high school with a TPT of 7.18 percent. Meanwhile, the lowest unemployment came from elementary school graduates down by 2.83 percent.

As for August 2024, the highest unemployment actually occurred among vocational high school graduates, while the lowest was junior high school graduates.
