KPK Concerning Riau Governor Abdul Wahid's OTT: Extortion Related To Budgeting At The PUPR Service

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed the hand arrest operation (OTT) that ensnared Riau Governor Abdul Wahid regarding the extortion of additional budget at the PUPR Service. It is stated that there are thugs who must be deposited.

"Regarding the addition of the budget at the PUPR Service, there is then a kind of Japrem or thugs' rations of a certain percentage, so for regional heads the modes," said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, November 4 evening.

Budi said the case title or exposure had been carried out at the leadership level but there were still investigations being carried out. Thus, more complete information about the mode will be submitted in a press conference on Wednesday, November 5.

In this silent operation, Budi said, investigators found Rp1.6 billion in cash in US dollar denominations, Poundsterling, and Rupiah. "It is suspected that part of part of the handover to the regional head," he said.

"For the money that was secured in rupiah, it was secured in Riau and for money in the form of dollars and pounds, it was secured in Jakarta in one of AW's houses," continued Budi.

Budi also said that acceptance with this mode was suspected not to happen once. "So before this arrest activity, it is suspected that there have been other handovers," said Budi.

Previously reported, the KPK held a hand arrest operation (OTT) in Riau Province on Monday, November 3. There were 10 people who were arrested at that time and there was Rp1 billion in rupiah denominations, US dollars to Poundsterling.

Later, nine people were brought by the KPK to undergo examination. However, it has not been detailed about the transaction that led to the silent operation or the suspect who was named.
