JAKARTA - The Provincial Government of Riau Islands stated that two resorts in Bintan Regency are used to quarantine residents of Tanjungpinang City who are infected with COVID-19.

Chairman of the Daily Task Force on Handling COVID-19 Kepri Tengku Said Arif Fadillah, said Lauhas Village and Agro Resort in Bintan were prepared in anticipation of a surge in COVID-19 patients who had no symptoms.

The capacity of the two resorts can accommodate more than 300 patients.

"We hired two resorts in Bintan Regency to quarantine asymptomatic COVID-19 patients. So they did not join the COVID-19 Bintan patients quarantined at the Kepri Education Quality Assurance Agency Building in Bintan," he was quoted as saying by Antara, Thursday, May 20.

Arif said the implementation of self-isolation needs to be improved immediately by utilizing the facilities that have been prepared by the government. COVID-19 patient quarantine facilities are adequate, and comfortable. Patients quarantined at the two locations are expected to recover soon.

"This is also to prevent transmission in the family if self-isolation is not up to health standards," he said.

Arif hopes that all COVID-19 patients who undergo self-isolation in an inadequate place will willingly report the matter to health officials to immediately move to one of the rooms in the resort that has been prepared by the local government.

He also reminded the Tanjungpinang COVID-19 Handling Task Force to improve coordination with various parties, including the Kepri COVID-19 Handling Task Force so that services can be carried out to the maximum.

"The healing process is also influenced by feeling comfortable and safe. Rooms in the resort prepared for quarantine are a safe place," he said.

Currently, active cases in Kepri reach 1,804 people, spread in Batam 623 people, Tanjungpinang 371 people, Bintan 114 people, Karimun 185 people, Lingga 139 people, Natuna 88 people, and Anambas 284 people.

"We encourage the public to implement health protocols when doing activities," arif said.
