JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives Abdullah condemned the act of violence in the form of beatings by the Deputy Regent of Pidie Jaya, Hasan Basri, against the Head of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG), Muhammad Reza.

According to Abdullah, law enforcement officers must immediately act decisively and process the case in accordance with applicable legal provisions. He emphasized that there should be no impunity for anyone, including regional officials.

"I urge the police to take firm action and process the law against the perpetrators of this persecution. Public positions do not give the privilege of committing violence against other people," Abdullah told reporters in Jakarta, Friday, October 31.

Abdullah assessed that the act of persecution not only injures human values, but also damages the spirit of public services, especially in the implementation of the Free Nutrition Food (MBG) program which is one of the government's priorities.

"Violence in any form should not be allowed, let alone be carried out by public officials against officers who are carrying out their duties," he said.

He emphasized that regional heads should be role models in supporting government programs related to the welfare of the community.

The Free Nutrition Food Program is an important part of the country's efforts to ensure that children get sufficient nutrition. Regional heads should fully support them, not hinder them, let alone commit violence against their implementing officers," he said.

Abdullah hopes that this incident will be a momentum for all parties to strengthen commitments to civilized public services and reject all forms of violence within the government.

Previously, the Head of SPPG Trienggadeng Subdistrict, Pidie Jaya Regency, Muhammad Reza, was suspected of being a victim of persecution by the Deputy Regent of Pidie Jaya, Hasan Basri, on Thursday (30/10/2025) at around 08.05 WIB, ahead of the implementation of the Tasabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) Aceh in the area.

To reporters, Reza admitted that he was hit in the head by Hasan Basri. He said, before the incident, Hasan Basri had scrambled the nutritious eating rice (MBG) in the SPPG kitchen and shouted and threatened the officers who were working.

Responding to this, Hasan Basri confirmed that he had beaten Reza. He reasoned that the action was taken because Reza was considered negligent in supervising the MBG kitchen.

"I had time to hit him because he had no responsibility to supervise at the kitchen," Hasan Basri told reporters.

According to Hasan, the incident occurred when he carried out a surprise inspection (sidak) into the MBG kitchen and found rice in a cold and hard condition, while the kitchen head was not there.

"When I was about to go home, the head of the MBG kitchen just came, so I hit it," he said.
