Anticipate Disasters, Papua BPBD Forms 6 Clusters Of Logistics For Management

JAKARTA - The Papua Provincial Government (Pemprov) through the local Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) formed six clusters of disaster management logistics in this area.

Head of Logistics and Equipment at BPBD Papua Province Supanto said the logistics cluster was formed so that local governments do not really expect the central government in handling natural disasters.

"Thus, it is hoped that in the future the local government will be able to handle disasters well," said Supanto on the sidelines of the structural finalization meeting and the description of the tasks of the Papua Province disaster management logistics cluster in Jayapura, Monday, was confiscated by Antara.

According to Supanto, six clusters of disaster management logistics are search and rescue, evacuation and protection, logistics, health, recovery and education.

"Initially we will form eight clusters, but according to the decision letter of the head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Number 308 of 2014, it will be reduced to six clusters," he said.

He explained that the meeting currently held was to find out the duties of each cluster before obtaining a Decree (SK) from the local regional head.

"So this meeting is the last to know what needs to be improved from the meeting in 2024, before submitting and issuing a decree," said Supanto.

With the logistics cluster for disaster management, he said, it is hoped that in the future the local government can plan steps to anticipate disasters in the event of a disaster.
