Failed To Steal Women's Cellphones, Snatched With Tattoos In Hayam Wuruk Gambir Bonyok Beaten By Mobs

JAKARTA - A woman with the initials YF (39) became a victim of mugging in the Hayam Wuruk area, Gambir District, Central Jakarta, Saturday night, October 25, 2025.

Gambir Metro Police Chief Kompol Rezeki R. Respati confirmed the incident. One perpetrator with the initials RF was arrested.

The incident began when RF and his friend first stalked the victim.

"The perpetrator tried to pull the cellphone from the victim's hand. However, because the victim tried to defend it, the perpetrator's motorbike swayed and both fell," said Kompol Respati when confirmed, Sunday, October 26.

Residents who knew about the incident immediately chased and managed to arrest one perpetrator with the initials RF. The tattooed man was then beaten by a mob.

Meanwhile, one other perpetrator managed to escape the residents' ambush. Luckily, Gambir Police officers immediately came to the location to secure the RF perpetrator from the tantrums of the masses.

The perpetrator was then secured and put into a police patrol car to be taken to the Gambir Metro Police for further processing.

"We have pocketed the identity of the fellow perpetrator. Currently the team is pursuing it," he said.

Akibat perbuatannya, RF dijerat Pasal 363 ayat (1) ke-4 dan ke-5 KUHP tentang pencurian dengan pemberatan, dengan ancaman hukuman maksimal tujuh tahun penjara.

From the hands of the RF perpetrators, the police confiscated a young purple Samsung A35 cellphone belonging to the victim and a Suzuki Satria F motorcycle with the number B 3911 TSH used by the perpetrators in action.

As a result of his actions, RF was charged with Article 363 paragraph (1) 4 and 5 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with weight, with a maximum penalty of seven years in prison.
