TANJUNG SELOR Team of the Central Food Task Force together with the Regional Police (Polda) of North Kalimantan (Kaltara) and regional stakeholders held a coordination meeting in the Intamung Room, the Old Governor's Office, Tanjung Selor on Wednesday, October 22.

Kasubdit Indagsi Ditreskrimsus Polda Kaltara, AKP M. Harry Raden Arsa emphasized that his party together with the food task force are committed to controlling rice sales that exceed the Highest Retail Price (HET) and ensuring supply remains stable in the Kaltara region.

In addition to strengthening supervision of rice distribution chains throughout the region, ranging from storage warehouses, distribution lines, to retail markets.

This decisive step was also taken after it was found that a number of medium and premium rice were sold above the price set by the government.

"We found indications that the price of rice was not in accordance with the HET at several points. We are currently conducting a joint search of the Food Task Force to determine the causes and parties involved," said AKP Harry, Friday, October 23.

According to him, the Kaltara Police will act decisively if speculative practices are found, such as hoarding or supply arrangements that have an impact on price spikes.

"There is no room for market manipulation practices. We will take action against any violations of food policies in accordance with applicable legal provisions," he said.

Harry explained that the current focus of supervision is directed to ensure that the price of premium and medium rice remains below Rp15,400 per kilogram according to the HET zone II.

"In addition to law enforcement, the police also encourage a preventive approach through coordination with Bulog and local governments so that rice distribution to the community runs smoothly," said Harry.

We also want to ensure smooth distribution from upstream to downstream. If the supply stalls at the distributor level, the impact will be felt directly in the community. Therefore, we ensure that the distribution path must be clean and transparent," he added.

The Kaltara Regional Police also warned business actors to comply with rice trading regulations and not seek profit by harming the community.

"We ask all business actors to maintain price stability. If they are proven to be holding back supplies or selling far above the HET, there will be criminal sanctions," said Harry.

He said this supervisory step was part of the national strategy to maintain food security and people's purchasing power amid fluctuations in basic necessities.

"Our main goal is not just to take action, but to ensure that people get their rights: rice at a reasonable price and safe supply," said AKP Harry.
