LAMPUNG - A number of eye witnesses or residents who were around the Candipuro Police, in Bringin Kencana Village, South Lampung Regency, Lampung, said that when the Candipuro Police burned down, the crowd who attended reached thousands of people.

"Lots of people came, like there was a music concert by an artist, a lot of mass last night," said a resident of Beringin Kencana, Wahid, in South Lampung, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, May 19.

He explained that the crowd had begun to look crowded and filled the road at around 8:00 p.m. WIB on Tuesday, May 18 evening giving speeches. Then around 22.00 WIB they destroyed and burned the Candipuro Police.

According to him, the mass action from dozens of villages in Candipuro was allegedly due to their disappointment with the performance of the police officers who were at the police station because there had been many reports of loss or crimes that had not been followed up.

"The trigger may be because residents are disappointed because they have reported no response, if only one or two perpetrators of motorbike theft, robbery or robbery crimes that often occur in Candipuro are caught, maybe the community will not be like this either, but in fact there is not even one perpetrator who arrested, "he said.

Another resident, Adi said that when the arson and vandalism took place at the Candipuro Police, the police were not there.

"Yesterday there were two policemen on guard at the police station but immediately saved themselves because the crowd was so busy that they could no longer be accommodated at the police station," he said.

He admitted that in Candipuro, the crime rate was indeed high, especially motor vehicle theft, seizure, and muggings allegedly committed by individuals from other areas.

"Even in Lebaran, there was an incident in front of the motorbike house that was taken, basically from the fasting month until now the crime rate is still high, if the perpetrators still use sharp weapons they can still be fought, on average they use firearms," he said.

In fact, he continued, there is one shop that has been thieved three times, the last incident was cigarette sales that was hit by a thief.

"This may be what makes the public upset and angry at the Candipuro Police, the photos are that they do not wear masks but they cannot be arrested," he said.

However, he stated that the residents in Bringin Kencana who were around the Candipuro police station did not know if there would be an attack and arson at the police station.

"We don't know here. Suddenly it was crowded, and there was an arson, instead the people in Bringin Kencana participated in extinguishing the fire that burned the police because they were afraid of spreading to the settlement. In Candipuro there are 14 villages, we in Bringin Kencana really don't know. ," he said.

Previously, the Head of Lampung Regional Police, Inspector General Hendro Sugiatno, revealed that eight suspected provocateurs of the burning of the Candipuro Police, South Lampung Regency, Lampung Province, had been secured by the police.

"We will find the root of the problem, why they set fire to the police station, now only eight people have been secured from the incident last night," said the Kapolda, Wednesday, May 19.

Inspector General Hendro stated that he would continue to look for the perpetrators of the destruction and arson of the Candipuro Police to be accountable for his actions.

"All criminal acts must have suspects. If they damage state facilities it is also damaging to public facilities, we will look for the police destroyer. We ask what is the reason for damaging it," he said.
