MAKASSAR - The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) noted that it has handled around 3 million negative content in the digital space in the past year or starting from October 20, 2024 to October 20, 2025.

Of this amount, online gambling (online gambling/judol) is the largest category with more than two million content being prosecuted.

"From October 20, 2024 to October 20, 2025, there are 3,053,984 negative content in the digital space that we have handled with 2,377,283 gambling content, 612,618 pornographic content, including 8,517 child pornography content," said Director General of Digital Space Supervision of the Ministry of Education Alexander Sabar, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, October 24.

Alexander emphasized that the Ministry of Communication and Industry cannot work alone in keeping digital space safe. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between various parties, both between ministries/agencies, digital platforms, industry, and society.

"The government is unlikely to implement it alone. In the government itself which is divided into such many ministries and institutions, we collaborate. We also encourage collaboration with platforms, industry and all parties, including society," said Alexander.

He gave an example of handling complex online gambling content and involving many parties such as the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), the Financial Services Authority (OJK), to law enforcement officials.

"The online gambling problem has a wide spectrum, from upstream to downstream. The Ministry of Communication and Trade prevents judol content from being accessed by the public. On the upstream side, there is PPATK that traces financial transactions, OJK that blocks accounts. Meanwhile, the criminal acts are managed by the police or law enforcement officers," he explained.

The Ministry of Communication and Industry applies two approaches to monitoring digital space, namely proactive and reactive. The proactive approach is carried out through 24-hour cyber patrols, manages the Content Moderation Compliance System or Security, and coordinates with digital platforms for the moderation process.

Meanwhile, the reactive approach is carried out by following up on public reports through the complaint channel.id as well as complaints from ministries and other institutions.

"For example, if there are complaints related to illegal fraud or online loans, we will ask for recommendations from the OJK to investigate whether the content reported is really not registered. If it is related to defamation, of course it must go through the police first," said Alexander.
