JAKARTA - Secretary General of the Golkar Party Muhammad Sarmuji said the steps taken by the Golkar Party Youth Force (AMPG) and the Indonesian Renewal Youth Force (AMPI) to report a number of social media accounts to law enforcement officials were a form of response to the rampant slander and hate speech against Golkar Party Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia.
"Yesterday when asked by reporters about the reporting or consultation of AMPG and AMPI to law enforcement officials, I answered, 'we will call to ask why it's reported'. Now it has been asked and there is an answer, they consider the accounts to create content that goes beyond the limits," Sarmuji said in his statement in Jakarta, Thursday, November 23.
According to Sarmuji, the content reported is not just criticism, but already contains insults of racism, slander, hoaxes, and malicious framing against the personal Bahlil Lahadalia.
"So they reported not only defending Pak Bahlil, but also wanting social media not to be colored by bad speech and exceeding borders," he said.
Sarmuji emphasized that the steps taken by AMPG and AMPI were purely born from their own initiative without any instructions from the party.
"Why should I ask? Yes, because they are moving on their own initiative. They have no intention of obstructing expression or freedom of expression. If you want to criticize, just be free. What is targeted is only accounts in the name of freedom of expression but the contents are full of insults, slander, evil framing, racism, and hoaxes," said the chairman of the Golkar Party faction of the DPR RI.
He added that the legal step must be understood as an effort to build a healthier and more civilized digital space, not a form of silencing criticism.
"Criticism is part of democracy, but insults and lies should not be allowed to become a new culture in the public sphere," he stressed.
Previously, the AMPG leadership together with AMPI reported a number of social media accounts to Polda Metro Jaya, Monday (20/10/2025).
The report is related to the spread of racist memes and uploads as well as slander against the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources as well as the General Chair of the Golkar Party, Bahlil Lahadalia.

The two Golkar wing organizations assessed that a number of accounts had exceeded the appropriate limits by spreading content that attacks a person's personal dignity.
AMPG and AMPI hope that this legal step will serve as a warning for social media users to be wiser and more responsible for spreading information in the digital space.
