JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung inaugurated Taman Si Pitung Jampea under the Jampea Toll Road, North Jakarta.

Pramono said this was an effort to expand green open space (RTH) in the midst of limited urban land, especially in densely populated areas.

"I have asked the Head of the Parks Service and the Mayor to continue to build parks like this in new places, especially under bridges. Apart from being able to create murals and works of art, it is also a playground and park for the community," said Pramono at the location, Thursday, October 23.

According to Pramono, North Jakarta is one of the areas with a high population density level. Land constraints make it difficult to build green space in existing residential areas.

Therefore, the use under toll roads such as in the Jampea area is considered an innovative step to expand green space without having to sacrifice other land functions.

"Indeed, in North Jakarta, one of the main problems is this densely populated area, so the green open space is very limited. So the needs like this are very, very much felt," he said.

The DKI Provincial Government noted that the proportion of green open space in Jakarta currently has reached more than 6 percent, an increase from the previous 5.74 percent. However, this figure is still far from the national target of 30 percent of green open space from the total city area.

"We want as long as the toll road in Jakarta becomes greener. If there are more open spaces, our city will be more habitable and competitive," he said.

Efforts to expand green open space are part of the DKI Provincial Government's sustainable development agenda, including to improve air quality and strengthen city resilience to climate change.

The Si Pitung Jampea Park was built with the Green Active Space concept, namely an active green park that not only functions as a public space, but also has ecological value. The park area is equipped with shade vegetation, sitting areas, as well as public facilities such as futsal fields, skateparks, children's playgrounds, public toilets, and motorcycle parking lots.

"Even though it is under the toll road, the safety and comfort of visitors remains a priority. This park has been equipped with lighting and six CCTV points operating for 24 hours," said Pramono.
