The Establishment Of The Directorate General Of Islamic Boarding Schools Is Considered To Be Prabowo's Special Gift For The Real Real Form Of Asta Cita

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto's decision to approve the establishment of the Directorate General (Ditjen) of Islamic Boarding Schools within the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) is considered a form of the government's strong commitment to building superior Human Resources (HR).

Political observer and Executive Director of the Indonesian Survey Flow, Ali Rif'an, said that the approval for the formation of the Directorate General was a 'special gift' to coincide with National Santri Day 2025.

"This is a special gift on National Santri Day 2025. This is a form of President Prabowo's commitment to building superior Indonesian human resources, including pesantren graduates in it," said Ali Rif'an in Jakarta, Thursday (23/10).

According to Ali, the formation of the Directorate General of Islamic Boarding Schools has great significance based on two main reasons.

Pillar Pendidikan Dan Penjaga Moral

First, Ali emphasized the historical role of pesantren as the main pillar of education in Indonesia and the basis for the birth of great national figures.

"Since the independence struggle period until today, pesantren has been the guardian of national, Islamic and humanitarian values," said Ali.

According to him, pesantren has succeeded in producing a generation of knowledge, morals, and nationalist spirit.

Second, based on data from the Ministry of Religion as of October 4, 2025, the number of Islamic boarding schools throughout Indonesia reached 43,391 units. This fantastic figure shows the role of pesantren in the national education system.

"There are 43 thousand Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia. The number of Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia is a great potential for the nation. From Islamic boarding schools were born leaders, educators, ulama, and national leaders who were moral guardians of the community," he explained.

Therefore, strengthening Islamic boarding schools through the Directorate General of Islamic Boarding Schools means strengthening the future of Indonesian education which is rooted in noble and scientific values.

Realization Of Asta Cita

Ali Rif'an also underlined that President Prabowo's move was part of the implementation of the government's vision and mission known as Asta Cita.

"The existence of the Directorate General of Islamic Boarding Schools means that there is a serious effort by the Prabowo government to strengthen the future of Indonesian education, as well as part of the implementation of the 4th Asta Cita point," concluded Ali.
