BOGOR - Deputy Chairman of the West Java Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), Iwan Suryawan, urged accurate transparency and clarification regarding the polemic of West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) funds worth IDR 4.17 trillion which is said to have settled in Bank Indonesia (BI).

This sensitive issue arose after the Minister of Finance (Menkeu), Purbaya Yudhi Sadive, alluded to the investment of local government funds, where the West Java Provincial Government funds were recorded as the highest. However, Governor Dedi Mulyadi (KDM) hastily denied, ensuring that the money was in the form of a deposit for operational cash, not a deposit that was 'parked' to look for flowers.

Iwan Suryawan emphasized that the difference in the trillions of rupiah data between the central and regional governments should not be allowed to become a confusing debate between the public.

"We at the DPRD also need to know valid and detailed data about the polemic of this fund from the central and provincial governments. This is not just a number, this concerns the West Java people's money that must be used for development," said Iwan, Thursday, October 23, 2025.

This politician from the PKS faction appreciated the quick response of the Governor of KDM who directly coordinated with BI and the Ministry of Home Affairs. However, he also urged that there be firm action if there was a practice of fraud found.

"We support the Governor's efforts to completely dismantle this issue. If there are individuals or agencies who deliberately 'mark' funds without clear reasons and harm the acceleration of development, they must be dealt with firmly," he said.

Furthermore, Iwan views the issue of deposited funds as a 'yellow light' to the performance of Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) in absorbing the budget.

"The figure of IDR 4.17 trillion, or whatever the figure that has been proven to settle, is a reflection of the performance of spending. This is a yellow light for OPD to be more proactive and efficient in realizing the budget that has been allocated," said Iwan.

According to him, such a large fund must be immediately distributed to vital projects such as infrastructure and education so that people's welfare is not delayed.

Urge Budget Meetings To Immediately

To resolve this polemic and restore focus on development, Iwan appealed that the data debate between the Minister of Finance Purbaya and the Governor of KDM be resolved in a professional technical room, not in public spaces.

He ensured that the West Java DPRD would immediately take steps to monitor institutions.

"The West Java DPRD through the Budget Agency will immediately summon and discuss with the Regional Government Budget Team (TAPD) the results of the visit by the Governor to BI and the Ministry of Home Affairs. We want to know exactly what obstacles make this fund 'definitely' at the bank," concluded Iwan Suryawan.
