JAKARTA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Rala emphasized the government's commitment to strengthening the quality of the santri education ecosystem as part of efforts to build superior human resources (HR) towards advanced Indonesia.

As stated in a statement received on Wednesday, October 22, Gibran conveyed this in commemoration of the 2025 National Santri Day (HSN).

"The government under the leadership of Mr. President Prabowo is committed to continuing to improve the quality of the education ecosystem within the students," said Gibran, quoted by ANTARA.

Gibran said improving the quality of the education ecosystem in the santri environment was carried out through improving the governance of Islamic boarding schools, strengthening the independent economy in Islamic boarding schools, training artificial intelligence (AI) and adapting technology, as well as through various assistance programs such as Smart Indonesia Card (KIP) and Free Nutrition Food (MBG).

This commitment is in line with the 4th Astacita of President Prabowo Subianto's administration which places the development of human resources as a top priority.

Furthermore, the Vice President conveyed that based on data from the Ministry of Religion, currently there are more than 42,000 Islamic boarding schools throughout Indonesia with an number of students reaching 11 million people.

According to him, this great potential must be managed strategically in order to be able to produce a generation of highly competitive students and play an active role in the progress of the nation.

Gibran also hopes that Indonesian students can continue to increase their self-capacity by adhering to Islamic, national, and independent values, and being able to adapt to changing times and technological advances.

"Hopefully Indonesian students can continue to increase their capacity to become a competitive next generation who maintain Islamic and national values, and be able to adapt to the times," he added.

Closing his message, the Vice President expressed his appreciation to all parties who have played an active role in developing the nation through student education.

"I express my gratitude and highest appreciation to the kiai, nyai, ustaz, ustazah, all santri, and alumni of pesantren in the country for their contribution so far in the nation's development," he concluded.
