CIANJUR - The police arrested a gun and knife stabbing perpetrator against an illegal travel driver in Cijati District, Cianjur, West Java. The police are currently still hunting down several other perpetrators who claim to be members of the police.

Head of Cianjur Police, AKBP Mochamad Rifai, said the arrest of the perpetrator who was pointing a sharp weapon after officers received reports from the victim and viral videos of violence and threats against a number of illegal travel drivers.

"We immediately arrested the perpetrator who was pointing a knife with the initials B (36), a resident of Cijati Subdistrict. We are still hunting down other perpetrators who pointed a gun, we cannot confirm whether it was a real weapon or a toy," he said as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, May 19.

The police hope that the perpetrators involved in blocking some of the illegal travel drivers will immediately direct themselves, because their identities are already in the pocket of the police, including the perpetrator who pointed a gun at the victim.

In the viral video that happened in Cijati Subdistrict, it started with dozens of thugs, one of whom was wearing a jacket from a mass organization, intimidating several illegal travel drivers who wanted to take passengers from the area.

They were gathered in front of one of the houses and interrogated. In fact, perpetrator B grabbed a victim's neck while pointing a knife to her neck. This is thought to have been triggered by illegal travel operations to the southern region, so that it is detrimental to public transport drivers.

Even in the video, the perpetrator who was pointing a knife had mentioned that the other perpetrator who had pointed a gun was a member of the police buser, so that the activity had made the victims frightened.

"We are still investigating what triggered the incident, but we make sure there is no involvement of police officers in the incident. The suspicion is temporary because illegal travels that intend to carry passengers from the south are still operating," said Rifai.
