'Unknown' Group Attack TNI In Papua, The KKB Wing?

JAKARTA - Two members of the National Army (TNI), Second Soldier Ardiyudi and Chief Soldier Alifnur Angkotasan, were killed as a result of the persecution of dozens of unknown people. They were tortured with various sharp weapons in Dekai, Yahukimo, Papua.

"It is true that there was an incident of persecution that killed two members of Kostrad Infantry Battalion 432 who were members of the Security Task Force for Prone Areas (Pamrahwan)," said Military Resort Commander 172/PWY Brigadier General Izak Pangemanan, in Jayapura, Tuesday, May 18.

Based on the reports received, the group's acts of persecution were when the two TNI members carried out security for the construction of the talut in Brasa River, Dekai.

In fact, the perpetrators of the persecution were said to be dozens of people. They used sharp weapons to beat the two victims.

"About 20 people attacked with various types of sharp weapons until both of them died from their injuries," he said.

With this case, the National Police also intervened to investigate. The perpetrators are currently being hunted.

Although it is not yet known who the perpetrators of the persecution are, various allegations have arisen regarding their origins.

One of the allegations that emerged was that they were a group affiliated with the armed criminal group (KKB). However, this still cannot be proven.

Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri said the perpetrators did not only kill the two TNI members. This is because they took the victim's firearm.

"We will pursue the perpetrator who seized two firearms carried by our two soldiers," said Fakhiri.

The firearms belonging to the victims that were taken away were the SS2 type (assault rifle) and the magazine.

After that incident, the security apparatus will increase vigilance in the area. Moreover, the perpetrators have taken dangerous firearms.

"The level of vigilance must be increased because they already have firearms, a new group will emerge on behalf of what Kodap. So the confiscation of firearms justifies that he is there," said Fakhiri.
