Makassar's National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) has deployed the State Ship (KN) SAR 104 Kamajaya to search for a sea ambulance ship that reportedly lost contact while in the waters of the Makassar Strait, Pangkajene Islands Regency (Pangkep), South Sulawesi.
"The Makassar KPP Rescue Team together with the potential for SAR are still searching for the whereabouts of the ambulance ship," said Head of the Makassar Basarnas Office Muhammad Arif Anwar as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 15.
Initially, this ambulance ship departed from Bumungan Island to Dewaskang Island, which is known to have departed since Monday, October 13, 2025. Estimation of the trip should have been taken for about eight hours.
However, until now, the ambulance carrying three passengers had not arrived at its destination, and it was even reported that contact had disappeared in the Makassar Strait, Pangkep Regency.

Basarnas personnel along with the potential for SAR and crew members of this ship have headed to the scene with a distance of 100 Nautical Mil (NM) with a speed of 12 knots and a travel time of approximately eight hours.
"Hopefully the ambulance ship that lost contact and its passengers can be found in good health," said Arif.
It is not yet known that the sea ambulance belongs to the private or government which was brought to Dewakkang Island. So far, there is no information regarding the existence of the sea ambulance ship.
