Prosecutor Reveals Riza Chalid's Reputation In The Trial Of Alleged Corruption

JAKARTA - The public prosecutor (JPU) of the Attorney General's Office, Triyana Setia Putra, revealed the great reputation of Mohammad Riza Chalid as an oil and gas trader (oil and gas) in the alleged corruption trial that dragged his son, Muhammad Kerry Adrianto Riza.

The statement was made during the reading of the indictment against Kerry at the Corruption Court, Central Jakarta District Court, Monday, October 13.

According to the prosecutor, his father's reputation made Kerry trusted in the acquisition process of one of the fuel storage facilities in Merak.

"The trust arises because of the reputation of the defendant's father who is widely known in the field of oil and gas trade," Triyana said at the trial.

In the indictment, Kerry is said to have promised long-term cooperation with certain parties and claims to have prepared financing support from one of the national banks to secure the acquisition process. Credit analysis documents submitted to the bank show a work contract plan after financing certainty was obtained in 2014.

Kerry was charged with enriching herself by IDR 3.07 trillion in a case of alleged corruption in crude oil management and refinery products for the 2018-2023 period, which caused state financial losses of IDR 285.18 trillion.

Apart from Kerry, the other four defendants were also presented at the indictment reading trial. They are suspected of jointly committing or participating in unlawful acts that benefit themselves or other parties.

For their actions, the defendants were charged with Article 2 paragraph (1) or Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001, in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.
