Nadiem Makarim's Pretrial Was Rejected, His Wife Was Disappointed But Respected The Judge's Decision

JAKARTA - Nadiem Anwar Makarim's wife, Franka Franklin, admitted that she was disappointed with the decision of the South Jakarta District Court (Jaksel) judge who rejected the pretrial application related to the alleged corruption case in the procurement of Chromebooks at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology in 2019-2022.

"Of course we are very sad and disappointed with today's decision, but we really respect what the judge has decided," Franka said after the pretrial hearing at the South Jakarta District Court, Monday, was confiscated by Antara.

Franka emphasized that the family and a team of lawyers will find a way through the legal corridors that have been regulated by law.

At the end of his statement, his wife, former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Anwar Makarim, expressed her gratitude for the prayers and support provided.

"Thank you once again for all the prayers from all of my friends, from our family, relatives so that Mas Nadiem can still be together today even though it is far from us," he said.

South Jakarta District Court (Jaksel) Single Judge, I Ketut Darpawan, rejected the pretrial application submitted by former Minister of Education and Technology Nadiem Anwar Makarim.

Nadiem submitted a pretrial application related to the alleged corruption case in the procurement of Chromebooks at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) in 2019-2022.

The AGO has named former Nadiem Makarim as a suspect in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of Chromebooks at the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2019-2022.

Nadiem as the Minister of Education and Culture in 2020 plans to use Google products in the procurement of information and communication technology (ICT) tools at the Ministry of Education and Culture. In fact, at that time the procurement of ICT equipment had not yet started.

The alleged article is Article 2 paragraph (1) or Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law (UU) Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning amendments to Law Number 31 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.
