JAKARTA - The UK will provide aid packages worth 20 million pounds (Rp442,640,000) to provide water, sanitation and hygiene services in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Sunday, upon arrival in Egypt to attend a summit of world leaders on efforts to end the conflict.
The UK said the funds would be channeled through UNICEF, the World Food Program and the Norwegian Refugee Council, designed to reach those facing hunger, malnutrition, and disease.
Separately, in an upload on X PM Starmer wrote, he was in Egypt joining international leaders to mark a crucial first step towards peace in the Middle East.
"The UK is ready to support the rebuilding of Gaza and we will work closely with partners to ensure a stable future for the region," he tweeted.
Britain said it would also hold a three-day summit on Gaza reconstruction which will be attended by representatives of the international government, the private sector, and representatives of development finance, including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the World Bank.
