JAKARTA - Proper sanitation access is no longer a luxury, but a basic need. That is what prompted the Poverty Reduction Acceleration Agency (BP Tamkin) under the leadership of Budiman Sudjatmiko to inaugurate the Toilet Assistance and Septic Tank Program for residents of Kampung Bali Village, Tanah Abang District, Central Jakarta, Friday, October 10.

This program is the first step of seven points of similar activities that will be held in stages in the DKI Jakarta area. The goal is simple but important, namely improving the quality of life of low-income people through clean, healthy, and safe sanitation facilities.

Deputy for the Acceleration of Access Capacity Empowerment of BP Taskin, Novrizal Tahar emphasized that this program is not just a physical development project. We want to ensure that every citizen has access to clean and safe sanitation. Poverty alleviation is not enough with economic assistance, but must also touch the basic aspects of life such as health and the environment," he said.

The inauguration which was held on Jalan Tanah Low, RT 002 RW 01, Kampung Bali was attended by the Mayor of Central Jakarta Arifin, the ranks of the city government, private partners, and the local community. A warm atmosphere was felt when the group cycled together from the Mayor's Office Plaza towards the inauguration location, describing the spirit of collaboration and a healthy lifestyle.

The Septic Toilet and Tank Assistance Program does not stand alone. BP Taskin collaborates with three main partners, each of whom has an important role in realizing sanitation worthy of citizens. Sato is present as a provider of modern sanitation solutions that focus on expanding access to healthy toilets in densely populated areas. Biovision contributes through environmentally friendly technology that is used for the treatment of household waste so as not to contaminate soil and water. Meanwhile, Aqualon ensures the sustainability of infrastructure through the production of clean water piping, drainage, and environmentally friendly plastic-based building materials and has been certified halal.

The three of them not only contributed facilities, but were also involved in public education about the importance of sanitation and sustainable waste management.

"We welcome BP Taskin's initiative with private partners. This program provides concrete examples of how cross-sectoral synergy can have a big social impact on residents," said Mayor Arifin.

This activity is also filled with planting trees on Jalan Jati Baru 14 as a symbol of commitment to a green and healthy environment.

Through this collaboration, BP Tamkin hopes that the Septic Toilet and Tank Assistance program can be expanded to six other locations in DKI Jakarta so that more and more residents enjoy the benefits because poverty alleviation actually starts from a healthy home and a clean environment.
