JAKARTA - Indonesia welcomes the Hamas and Israel agreement regarding the first phase of the ceasefire plan in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, said Foreign Minister Sugiono.
"This is a step forward that we welcome well. And hopefully this can continue to the next phase," Foreign Minister Sugiono told reporters in Jakarta, Thursday, October 9.

As previously reported, US President Donald Trump announced that the militant group Hamas and Israel had approved its "first phase" plan to end the Gaza war.

A similar announcement was also made by a spokesman for the Qatari Foreign Ministry Majed Al Ansari with details to be announced later.
"The mediators announced that tonight an agreement has been reached on all the terms and mechanisms for implementing the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, which will lead to the end of the war, the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners, as well as the entry of aid," Al Ansari tweeted on social media X.
"The details will be announced later," he added.
Meanwhile, confirming the agreement had been reached, Hamas in a statement urged US President Donald Trump and the countries involved to force Israel to fully adhere to the deal, quoted from the BBC.

Separately, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Israeli government would hold a Thursday meeting to discuss a ceasefire first-stage deal to end the war in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.
"A great day for Israel. Tomorrow (today) I will meet with the government to agree to the agreement and repatriate all our beloved hostages," PM Netanyahu said in a statement from the prime minister's office.
