Prabowo Video Call With The Indonesian National Team Squad Ahead Of The Match Against Saudi Arabia

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto made a video call with the Indonesian national team squad which will play against Saudi Arabia in the 2026 World Cup fourth round match in the Asian zone on Wednesday night.

"Thank you everyone. I pray you will succeed. I pray continuously, you will succeed tonight. Give your best! Give your best! And give us good news tonight. Thank you," Prabowo said via video call, quoted from the official account of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Erick Thohir, Wednesday, October 8.

Erick also conveyed Prabowo's messages that were not saved or recorded in the video.

"Mr. President Prabowo Subianto conveys warm greetings and full support for all Indonesian national team players, coaches and officials who will face Saudi Arabia and Iraq in Round 4 of the 2026 World Cup Qualification in the Asian zone," he said as quoted by ANTARA.

"He advised the Indonesian national team to fight wholeheartedly, bring the spirit of the Red and White, and give 110 percent to make the nation proud," Erick wrote on his Instagram account.

Indonesia will face Saudi Arabia in the first match of Group B of the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification at the King Abdullah Sport City Stadium, Jeddah, Thursday (9/10) in the morning WIB.

In the second match, Indonesia will meet Iraq in a match which takes place on Sunday (12/10) early morning WIB.

Indonesia is obliged to win over Saudi Arabia to keep its chances of qualifying directly for the 2026 World Cup finals. If they are able to win over Saudi Arabia, Patrick Kluivert's troops have a good chance to advance to the World Cup which will be held in the US, Canada, and Mexico next year.
