PDIP Lawyer Donny Tri Istiqomah Has Not Been Detained Until Hasto Gets Amnesty, KPK Says This

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has yet to arrest a suspect in the bribery case for the interim replacement (PAW) of DPR member Donny Tri Istiqomah.

Lawyers from the PDI-P (PDIP) are known to have been named suspects since December 2024 with PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto who has received amnesty from President Prabowo Subianto.

Then when will Donny be detained?

KPK chairman Setyo Budiyanto said the forced attempt against Donny was just a matter of time. However, he could not specify when.

"I'll check when that is," Setyo told reporters in Jakarta, Monday, August 6.

Setyo explained that investigators may still need to examine other witnesses or consider several things. Therefore, the detention has not been carried out until now.

"Maybe the Deputy (Action and Execution, ed) is still considering several things that need to be prioritized," he said.

"But of course it becomes part of the sequence in the investigation process only. Maybe it's a wait," continued Setyo, who once served as Director of KPK Investigation.

Meanwhile, Donny Tri Istiqomah last underwent an examination on February 3. At that time, he was summoned as a witness even though he had been named a suspect since December 24, 2024.

Previously reported, the KPK developed an interim replacement bribery (PAW) case that ensnared former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan and his fugitive, Harun Masiku. Two people were later named as suspects, namely PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah who are PDIP cadres as well as lawyers.

Hasto is also a suspect in the obstruction of the investigation. He is suspected of trying to obstruct the legal process, one of which is by asking Harun to damage his cellphone and run away after the arrest operation (OTT) was carried out.

In this case, Hasto was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison by the Jakarta Corruption Court. However, he has not yet served his sentence because he received amnesty from President Prabowo Subianto.
