Peace Will Not Be Realized In The Middle East Without The Establishment Of A Palestinian State

JAKARTA - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Monday said true peace in the Middle East would not materialize unless a Palestinian state was established.

This was conveyed in a televised address on the 52nd anniversary of the end of the war with Israel in 1973 (Yom Kippur War).

In a speech, President El-Sisi appreciated US President Donald Trump for his initiative to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, after Israel's latest conflict with the Palestinian militant group led by Hamas broke out on October 7, 2023.

"The ceasefire, the repatriation of prisoners and prisoners, the reconstruction of Gaza, and the start of a peaceful political path that is conducive to the formation and recognition of the Palestinian State all means that we are moving in the right direction towards lasting peace and solidified stability, which we all aspire to," said President El-Sisi, quoted from Ahram Online October 6.

He further emphasized that violence-forced peace will only give birth to hatred.

Meanwhile, peace built on justice leads to true normalization and continued coexistence among society, stressing reconciliation, not confrontation, is the only way to build a safe future.

Previously, in an upload on Facebook to commemorate the end of the war, President El-Sisi congratulated the Egyptian people and the Armed Forces, remembering with pride the spirit of determination and unity that had forged glory and guarded the homeland.

President El-Sisi noted, "while this region is going through a historical critical point and witnessing intensive efforts to achieve peace, Egypt reaffirms its steadfast stance: lasting security and stability can only be achieved through fair and comprehensive peace based on international legitimacy references, guarantees the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and opens an unrestricted horizon for coexistence and peace cooperation among all people in the region."
