MotoGP Mandalika 2025 Witnessed 142 Thousand Spectators, Menpora Erick Thohir: Egg Breaks!

JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir said the number of Indonesian MotoGP spectators at the Mandalika Circuit, Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, reached 142 thousand people.

“Luar biasa, pecah telur! Sebanyak 142 ribu orang menonton MotoGP Mandalika,” ujarnya di Sirkuit Mandalika, Antara, Minggu, 5 Oktober.

Erick mengapresiasi kesuksesan penyelenggaraan ajang balap motor paling bergengsi di dunia itu. Menurut dia, keberhasilan ini merupakan hasil kerja bersama antara pemerintah pusat, pemerintah daerah, pelaku industri, serta Kementerian Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif.

“Ini prestasi yang bisa kita lihat, kita solid bekerja sama untuk memastikan agenda MotoGP ini menjadi bagian penting dari promosi Indonesia,” katanya.

Namun, Erick menegaskan bahwa kesuksesan MotoGP di Mandalika tidak boleh berhenti pada euforia semata. Ia menilai, evaluasi berkelanjutan perlu dilakukan terutama untuk meningkatkan fasilitas pariwisata dan ketersediaan akomodasi di kawasan Mandalika dan sekitarnya.

Pemerintah pusat, lanjutnya, akan terus mendorong investasi di kawasan ekonomi khusus (KEK) Mandalika. Erick juga menyebut telah mengundang Wakil Menteri Investasi untuk menarik minat investor baru.

“Jumlah hotel mudah-mudahan bisa ditambah, investasi juga. Kalau Indonesia pernah sukses membangun Nusa Dua, pasti di sini (Mandalika) juga bisa sukses,” ucap mantan Menteri BUMN itu.

Lebih lanjut, Erick menyampaikan bahwa MotoGP Mandalika 2025 tidak hanya sukses dari sisi olahraga, tetapi juga memberikan dampak ekonomi nasional yang signifikan, mencapai Rp4,8 triliun.

Sementara itu, Gubernur Nusa Tenggara Barat Lalu Muhamad Iqbal mengatakan dampak positif penyelenggaraan MotoGP terhadap ekonomi masyarakat setempat sangat terasa.

“Dampaknya nyata. Kamar hotel tidak hanya terpakai di Mandalika, tetapi juga di ring 2 Mataram dan ring 3 Senggigi. Okupansi sangat tinggi, harga kamar pun meningkat,” ujarnya.

Iqbal menambahkan, jumlah pelaku UMKM yang terlibat juga meningkat dua kali lipat dibanding tahun sebelumnya — dari 60 UMKM pada 2024 menjadi 120 UMKM tahun ini.

“Dari ekonomi atas hingga bawah, semuanya terdampak positif oleh MotoGP ini. Ini momentum kebangkitan UMKM kita,” katanya.

Erick appreciated the success of organizing the most prestigious motorcycle racing event in the world. According to him, this success is the result of joint work between the central government, local governments, industry players, and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.

"This is an achievement that we can see, we are solidly working together to ensure this MotoGP agenda is an important part of Indonesia's promotion," he said.

However, Erick emphasized that MotoGP success in Mandalika should not stop at euphoria alone. He considered that continuous evaluation needs to be carried out, especially to improve tourism facilities and the availability of accommodation in the Mandalika area and its surroundings.

The central government, he continued, will continue to encourage investment in the Mandalika special economic zone (KEK). Erick also said that he had invited the Deputy Minister of Investment to attract new investors.

"Hopefully the number of hotels can be added, investment too. If Indonesia once succeeded in building Nusa Dua, it would also be successful here (Mandalika)," said the former Minister of SOEs.

Furthermore, Erick said that the 2025 Mandalika MotoGP was not only successful in terms of sports, but also had a significant national economic impact, reaching IDR 4.8 trillion.

Meanwhile, the Governor of West Nusa Tenggara Lalu Muhamad Iqbal said the positive impact of MotoGP on the local community's economy was very pronounced.

"The impact is real. Hotel rooms are not only used in Mandalika, but also in ring 2 Mataram and ring 3 Senggigi. The occupancy is very high, room prices are also increasing," he said.

Iqbal added that the number of MSME actors involved also doubled compared to the previous year's from 60 MSMEs in 2024 to 120 MSMEs this year.
