JAKARTA - TikTok's social media platform responded after its Electronic System Operators List (TDPSE) was temporarily frozen by the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi).
"TikTok respects the laws and regulations in the countries where we operate," a TikTok spokesperson said.
TikTok stated that it is working with the Ministry of Communication and Industry to resolve this issue constructively. TikTok is also committed to continuing to protect user privacy while ensuring its platform is safe and responsible for its users in Indonesia.
The TikTok application is still accessible. The content broadcast in the application runs without a hitch, as well as live broadcast features that can still be used normally.
It is known that the Ministry of Communication and Trade has temporarily frozen the Electronic System Operators List (TDPSE) against TikTok for non-compliance with the platform in fulfilling obligations in accordance with statutory regulations.
"This step is a form of government firmness after TikTok only provided partial data on TikTok Live activities during the 25'30 August 2025 demonstration period," said Director General of Digital Space Supervision of the Ministry of Education Alexander Sabar in his statement in Jakarta, Friday.
Alexander stated that on suspicion of monetizing live broadcast activities from accounts indicated by online gambling activities, the Ministry of Communication and Trade has submitted a request for data that includes traffic information, live streaming activities, as well as monetization data, including the amount and value of giving gifts.
"We have called TikTok to provide clarification directly on September 16, 2025, and TikTok is given until September 23, 2025 to submit the requested data in full," said Alexander.

However, through an official letter from TikTok numbered ID/PP/04/IX/2025 dated September 23, 2025, it was stated that TikTok had internal policies and procedures that regulate how to handle and respond to data requests, so TikTok stated that it could not provide the requested data.
Alexander said the request for data refers to Article 21 paragraph (1) of the Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Information Technology Number 5 of 2020 concerning Private Scope Electronic System Operators.
The regulation states that it is the duty of PSE Scope Private to provide access to electronic systems and/or electronic data to ministries or institutions in the context of supervision in accordance with statutory regulations.
"So, Komdigi assesses that TikTok has violated its obligations as a PSE Private, and we are taking steps to temporarily freeze TDPSE as a form of follow-up to surveillance," he said.
