JAKARTA Fraud with foreign tourism mode is increasingly rife and is a new trend in the crime of trafficking in persons (TPPO). The victim was promised a trip abroad, but upon arrival at the destination country, he was forced to work illegally.

This phenomenon has received serious attention from the government, including the Class I Immigration Office of the East Jakarta TPI which held the activities of the Binaan Village as well as launched the Pocket Book of the Immigration Development Village to prevent the occurrence of TIPs and crimes of human smuggling (TPPM).

Head of the Class I Immigration Office of TPI East Jakarta, Earias Wirawan, confirmed that fraud under the guise of tourism has trapped many residents to work without legal protection abroad.

"We open the widest possible communication with the community and sub-district officials so that this mode can be prevented from an early age," he said.

Muhammad Rullyandy, the Main Expert of Deputy I of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), said that the President paid full attention to this case.

Many victims are trapped in the persuasion of large salaries or low-cost tourism offers through social media and syndicates. The state must be present to prevent and at the same time repatriate victims of TIP," he said.

Director of Immigration Intelligence, Agus Waluyo, revealed that currently there are 424 assisted villages prone to TIP and TPPM in Indonesia. According to him, the Binaan Village program needs to be collaborated with social activities so that it is more accepted by the community.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Iqbal from the Legal Bureau of BP2MI said that the trend of tourist mode fraud continues to increase and is getting bolder.

"Initially the victim was deceived by the lure of tourism, but in the end he was used as a worker. Even now the perpetrators dare to deceive the officers. Therefore, we emphasize the importance of prospective migrant workers having competence, being registered, and participating in social security," he explained.

Through the pocket book of Binaan Immigration Village, the government hopes that the public will increasingly understand the dangers of foreign tourism fraud modes and not easily tempted by offers for foreign roads that lead to modern slavery.
