COVID-19 Update As Of May 17: Fifth Day Of Eid Al-Fitr, Total Positive Cases 1.744.045 People

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health released additional positive cases of the latest COVID-19 as of today. A total of 45.653 specimens were examined today. As a result, there were 4.295 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was found in Indonesia reached 1.744.045 people and active cases of 89.129 cases", as quoted from the Ministry of Health data, Monday, May 17.

Cases recovered today increased by 5.754 cases, bringing the total to 1.606.611 people cured. Then, the number of positive confirmation cases that died increased by 212 people and a total of 48.305 people.

The province with the most new cases was in West Java with 1.361 cases and a total of 298.665 cases. Followed by Central Java which has 673 new cases with a total of 190.623 cases. DKI Jakarta has 421 new cases and a total of 419.629 cases. Then, Riau has 317 new cases and a total of 51.990 cases.

The province with the most cured cases today belongs to West Java with an increase of 1.143 cases recovered. Followed by Central Java with an increase of 796 cases recovered, Riau with an increase of 600 cases recovered, and East Nusa Tenggara with an increase of 372 cases recovered.

There are two provinces that reported no new cases today. The provinces that reported zero new cases were North Maluku and Papua.

In addition, the number of specimens examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens reached 15.552.687.

"The positive result per number of specimens examined or positivity rate this week was 18.86 percent", he wrote.

For the number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or currently categorized as suspect cases, it is recorded at 79.815 people. Currently, 510 districts/cities from 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.

Furthermore, there are currently 13.803.055 people who have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 9.066.982 second dose vaccinations. Meanwhile, the total vaccination target of phase 1 and 2 reached 40.349.049 people.
