Alor Resort Police, East Nusa Tenggara, are hunting for the perpetrators of the burning of kiosks and beatings that have yet to be found.

Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police, Kombes Henry Novika Chandra, said that the NTT Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Darmoko had received the case report and ordered further handling.

"The NTT Police Chief said that the NTT Police deeply regretted the arson by irresponsible parties and the countermeasures that led to physical violence," Henry said in Kupang, Antara, Wednesday, October 1.

The Regional Police Chief, he continued, had instructed the Alor Police to take firm, fair, and professional steps.

The Kapolda also appealed to the public, especially youths from Watatuku Village and Mola Village, to refrain from being provoked by emotions.

"Full up the legal process to the police," he said.

Mediation steps were taken by the Alor Police Chief together with the Deputy Regent of Alor and the Chairman of the Alor Regency DPRD. They met both parties and invited the youths to be patient and not take anarchic actions.

The youths of Mola Village expressed their willingness to support the legal process and promised not to take countermeasures, as long as the handling was carried out transparently.

Meanwhile, two Watatuku youths who had been arrested for blocking the road had made a statement that they did not repeat their actions and were obliged to report to the Alor Police twice a week.

"The police remain committed to cracking down on the perpetrators of burning kiosks and other perpetrators of violence in accordance with applicable law. There is no room to take justice into their own hands," said Henry.

He added that this case would be handled thoroughly to prevent further conflicts and maintain regional security stability.

"We ask for the support of the community to remain calm and not take actions that make things worse. We will work hard to uncover the perpetrators and prevent similar incidents from happening again," said Henry.
