Riau Islands Customs Thwarts The Smuggling Of Hundreds Of IPhones In Batam

Batam Customs and Excise, Riau Islands thwarted an attempt to smuggle hundreds of iPhone mobile phones at the ASDP Punggur ferry port, Batam City.

"Yes, it's true," said Head of the B Batam Customs Main Service Office (KPU) Zaky Firmansyah as reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 29.

However, Zaky did not go into more detail regarding the chronology of the prevention of the smuggling efforts of hundreds of iPhone units as well as the exact origin and purpose, because for investigation purposes, the conference was officially planned for Wednesday (1/10).

Meanwhile, based on data obtained in the field, the Batam Customs Enforcement and Investigation Team (P2) secured an SUV with police number BP 1291 AE secured by officers at ASDP Punggur Port (27/9).

The car was secured when he was about to enter the hull of the KMP Barau ship. From the results of the inspection, hundreds of used iPhones were found in a suitcase.

Efforts to smuggle used iPhones from Batam are not the first time. In July 2025, as many as 327 iPhones were about to be smuggled into Jakarta through Hang Nadim Batam Airport.

In addition, in March 2025, his party also arrested the perpetrators of smuggling 100 iPhone units that have been fugitive since the end of 2024.
