Wild Jukir Perpetrators Of Persecution In Kelapa Gading Arrested While Sleeping In Rented

JAKARTA The Jatanras Unit of the North Jakarta Metro Police has succeeded in arresting a suspect in extortion and mistreatment of a motorcyclist in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta. The perpetrator with the initials RGB (29) was arrested while fast asleep in a rented house in Karet Village, Sepatan, Tangerang Regency, Monday (29/9/2025) in the morning.

"Incidentally, we are resting again. Yes (again sleeping). His statement was that at the crime scene the arrest was the last place for the perpetrators to escape," said Head of Jatanras North Jakarta Metro Police, AKP I Gede Gustiana to reporters.

Previously, the police had difficulty tracking down the perpetrators because they had changed places several times to avoid being chased by officers.

"There have been several escape places. So when we chase them somewhere, they move again. Incidentally at dawn he rests, we secure it," he said.

Incident Chronology

This case began when the victim with the initials S (40) was about to take his motorbike in the illegal parking area of Jalan Boulevard Raya, La Piazza, West Kelapa Gading. The victim has already paid parking fees of IDR 5,000 per motorbike. However, the perpetrator asked for an additional IDR 10,000.

Feeling blackmailed, the victim refused until an argument broke out. The perpetrator then took an iron pipe from a nearby shop and hit the victim repeatedly. As a result, the victim suffered lacerations to the head and bruises on several parts of the body.

"The perpetrator was one person. It was according to the video, witness testimony, and victim's testimony," said AKP Gustiana.

Examination Results

From the results of the investigation, RGB is known to be unemployed and single. Money from extortion is used for daily needs. "From the perpetrator's statement, (the results) are only for daily activities," said Kanit.

The police also found that the perpetrator was a new face at the illegal parking location. Several shopkeeper witnesses said this was the first time they saw it. This is still being investigated whether he acts as a thug or does work as a parking attendant at the scene.

In addition, investigators will conduct a urine test to determine whether the perpetrators are taking drugs. "We have to coordinate first with the Dokkes and the Narcotics Unit," said AKP Gustiana.

However, from his confession, the perpetrator only drank alcoholic beverages before carrying out the persecution. The type of drink is not known for sure.

Legal Steps

For his actions, RGB was charged with Article 368 of the Criminal Code regarding extortion and/or Article 351 of the Criminal Code concerning persecution. The police emphasized that they would not provide space for thuggery in the North Jakarta area.

"All perpetrators of thuggery, whether under the guise of parking attendants, should not try to take actions against the law or disturb the community. We will definitely take firm action. The state will not lose to the perpetrators of crimes," said AKP Gustiana.
