JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said there have been 2,608,243 people who left Jakarta during the Eid al-Fitr holiday ban this year. This data was compiled from May 6 to 15.

In detail, there were 2,607,688 people who left using private vehicles and 555 people using intercity and interprovincial (AKAP) buses.

"There are 1,730,463 vehicles exiting Jakarta. A total of 714,916 vehicles exited through the main toll gate and 1,015,547 vehicles through arterial roads," Riza said at Balai Kota DKI, Central Jakarta, Monday, May 17.

Then, on a temporary count, there are 2,244,270 people who have entered Jakarta. There were 2,244,096 people who left using private vehicles and 174 people using AKAP buses.

Meanwhile, 1,513,267 vehicles entered Jakarta. A total of 679,152 vehicles entered Jakarta through the main toll gate and 834,115 vehicles through arterial roads.

Separately, Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi asked travelers not to return from their hometowns this week. Because, he predicts the backflow of Eid al-Fitr 1441 Hijri homecoming will occur on Sunday, May 16 and Thursday, May 20.

So, he asked travelers to avoid the date to prevent the buildup of vehicles or congestion that caused crowds in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The possibility of a post-reverse occurred on May 16 and 20. Therefore we urge that people do not (go home, red) at that date because it will be full," Budi said on Saturday, May 15.

He said his party had coordinated with the Police Korlantas in anticipation of the backflow. This is done to prevent the buildup of vehicles.

There are a number of things to do, including screening. Budi said, anyone who enters the toll road must have a health certificate from the results of rapid antigen tests.

"Those who enter the street are those who already have rapid antigen tests, if they have not (have or do rapid test antigen, red) we have to do random tests at certain points conducted in rest areas," he said.
