JAKARTA - Two teenagers were arrested by the police because they were found carrying sharp weapons of sickle type in the Kampung Rawa area, Johar Baru, Central Jakarta, Sunday, September 28.

The two perpetrators are known to have the initials RM (15) and RF (14). They were arrested when they were about to carry out a brawl that had been planned through social media.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro said the arrests began when the Johar Baru Police Criminal Investigation Unit conducted a patrol to create conditions in areas prone to brawls.

"When crossing Gang T, Jalan Kampung Rawa Sawah, officers suspected a group of teenagers who were gathering," he said when confirmed, Sunday, September 28.

Some teenagers immediately fled after seeing the police, but two teenagers were arrested.

The police chief appealed that every child actually has the right to a bright future, not to be at stake in acts of violence on the streets.

Kombes Susatyo said that the presence of the police was not only as a law enforcer, but also a protector of the younger generation.

"He also appealed to parents to be more concerned about their children's activities, especially at night, so as not to be dragged into the wrong association," he said.

From the results of the search at the location, officers found two sickle blades.

One was hidden under a motorcycle, while another was found in a sewer wrapped in a red bag.

The two teenagers have admitted that the sickles belonged to them and will be used for brawls. The perpetrators admitted that they communicated on Instagram social media regarding the brawl plan.

Sementara meskipun keduanya masih berstatus sebagai anak di bawah umur, proses hukum tetap berjalan sesuai dengan sistem peradilan anak, dengan tetap mengedepankan perlindungan hak dan pendekatan pemulihan selama penyidikan.

Kedua remaja sudah ditahan di Polsek Johar Baru. Mereka dijerat dengan Pasal 2 Ayat (1) Undang-Undang Darurat Nomor 12 Tahun 1951 tentang kepemilikan senjata tajam tanpa hak.

"Ancaman hukumannya cukup berat, yakni pidana penjara maksimal 10 tahun," ucapnya.

Meanwhile, even though both of them are still minors, the legal process continues in accordance with the juvenile justice system, while still prioritizing the protection of rights and recovery approaches during the investigation.

The two teenagers have been detained at the Johar Baru Police. They were charged with Article 2 Paragraph (1) of the Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951 concerning possession of sharp weapons without rights.

"The threat of punishment is quite severe, namely a maximum imprisonment of 10 years," he said.
