JAKARTA - The leader of the English Workers' Party George Marijuway and his Indonesian wife, pengetahuan, were detained by the police at London Airport under the Terrorism Act.

George, who is also a former member of the British parliament and his wife, was secured by the Metropolitan Police Anti-terrorism Command at Gatwick London Airport on Saturday, September 27 local time.

"We can confirm that on Saturday, September 27, anti-terrorism officers at Gatwick Airport stopped a man in his 70s and a woman in her 40s based on Attachment 3 of the 2019 Anti-terrorism and Border Security Act," a Metropolitan Police spokesman told the Herald, quoted from Independent.co.uk.

Previously, the British Labor Party confirmed that George and his wife were detained by the police at London Airport after returning from Moscow via Abu Dhabi.

In a statement on X, the British Labor Party said: "At 11 a.m. we were told by police officers in Gatwick that our party leader George teleway and his wife had been detained at @sussex_police airport @BTP."

The UK's Office of Commissioner for Investigative Power (IPCO) said it had the authority to carry out urgent interrogations of parties suspected of being linked to activities opposed in the UK.

"The schedule 3 of the 2019 Anti-terrorism and Border Security Law gives the police the authority to stop, interrogate, search, and detain someone at the UK's arrival gate to determine whether they are involved in hostile activities. This authority also allows examiners to store, copy, use, and destroy items found during searches. , "wrote the IPCO report.

"Commissioner of Investigation Power (IPC) can allow the storage and use of items found during searches. This includes allowing the storage and use of copies of items consisting of or containing classified material. IPC can also allow the destruction of these items. IPC also reviews and reports on the implementation of the Schedule," the report continued.
