JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is ready to follow up on the order of the Panel of Judges at the Medan Corruption Court to present North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution in a follow-up hearing of the road project corruption case at the North Sumatra Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Office.
This was conveyed by the Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu when asked about a budget shift through the Governor's Regulation (Pergub) in a trial held on Wednesday, September 24. The panel of judges then asked the KPK Public Prosecutor (JPU) to present Bobby Nasution who is the son-in-law of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as a witness.
"Surely the Prosecutor after this trial will make a report. For example, if there is a request, we just have to follow up," Asep told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, September 25.
Asep said the report had not been given by the prosecutor. Because the team is still in Medan, North Sumatra.
"We are also waiting for his team to still be there. Usually, the trial will be one week, then we will return here," he said.
The information regarding the budget shift was conveyed by Muhammad Haldun as Secretary of the North Sumatra PUPR Service who was presented as a witness at the trial.
Haldun said that the budget for two road projects that became the object of corruption, namely the Sipiongot Section of Labuhan Batu and Sipionot's "Hutaimbaru" in North Padang Lawas with a total value of Rp. 165 billion was not allocated in the pure 2025 APBD but from funds of a number of offices that were legalized through the Governor's Regulation.
"If there is a risk of a budget shift, who is responsible? When the mechanism for shifting the budget does not work, the governor must be held accountable," Judge Khamozaro Waruwu said in court.
Apart from Bobby, the judge also asked the prosecutor to present the Acting Regional Secretary of North Sumatra at that time, Effendy Pohan, for questioning regarding the legal basis of the Governor's Regulation which was said to have been changed six times.
During the trial, the judge tried two defendants from the private sector, namely the President Director of PT Dalihan Na Tolu Group, Muhammad Akhirun Piliang and the Director of PT Rona Mora, Muhammad Rayhan Dulasmi.
This case also ensnared the former Head of the North Sumatra PUPR Service, Topan Obaja Putra Ginting, who was said to be a close person to Bobby Nasution. However, he has not been tried because the files have not been transferred to court.
