JAKARTA - The chairman of the PDI-P DPP for Agriculture and Food Sadarestuwati highlighted the low cost of goods sold (HPP) of unhulled rice with the highest retail price (HET). The government is expected to immediately evaluate so that farmers can make a profit.

This was conveyed by Sadarestuwati at the National Seminar commemorating National Farmer's Day entitled Bumi Lestari, Agricultural Residential' with the theme 'Back to Sawah Introducing The Future' at the PDIP DPP Party School, Lenteng Agung, Jakarta, Wednesday, September 24.

This activity was attended by three party pillars ranging from administrators, legislative members, and regional heads from PDIP in a hybrid manner. Meanwhile, PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri was present online.

Even so, farmers must also adapt to current conditions. One of them, by encouraging the development of local superior varieties that are weather resistant, is not dependence on imported varieties.

This step, continued Sadarestuwari, has been carried out by Surono Danu with rice varieties and MSP cassava and Mangontang Simanjuntak who research bacterial-based fertilizers.

"We must not die in our own food barn. Let's rise together towards the revival and independence of farmers, to realize food sovereignty," he said.

Ending his remarks, Sadarestuwati invited all parties to build a tough, environmentally friendly and sustainable agriculture.

"In order to lead to the food sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia," he said.

This seminar also presented a number of sources as speakers on National Farmer's Day 2025.
