Minister Budi Karya's Message To Travelers: Don't Turn Back On May 16th And 20th!

JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi asked travelers not to return from their hometowns this week. Because, he predicts the backflow of Eid al-Fitr 1441 Hijri homecoming will occur on Sunday, May 16 and Thursday, May 20.

So, he asked travelers to avoid the date to prevent the buildup of vehicles or congestion that caused crowds in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The possibility of a post-reverse occurred on May 16 and 20. Therefore we urge that people do not (go home, red) at that date because it will be full," Budi said in a press conference that aired at BNPB Indonesia, Saturday, May 15.

He said his party had coordinated with the Police Korlantas in anticipation of the backflow. This is done to prevent the buildup of vehicles.

There are a number of things to do, including screening. Budi said, anyone who enters the toll road must have a health certificate from the results of rapid antigen tests.

"Those who enter the street are those who already have rapid antigen tests, if they have not (have or do rapid antigen tests, red) we have to do random tests at certain points conducted in rest areas," he said.

If there is a surge, Budi said the police will not close the road but rather do contraflow mechanism.

Not only that, the Ministry of Transportation also works with the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) to conduct random tests or random checks to detect COVID-19. Especially in cities throughout Java.

The government, said Budi, will establish health checkpoints such as at Bakauheni Port and Gilimanuk Port.

"What we are doing has been coordinated with kakorlantas and Kakorlantas will do one traffic management to the maximum and of course the Dishub team, TNI also helps both efforts to conduct rapid tests before the trip and manage the trip," he concluded.
