PONTIANAK - The Regency Government (Pemkab) of Kubu Raya received a grant of 13 state-owned assets from the Ministry of Public Works through the West Kalimantan Regional Building and Infrastructure Planning Center (BPBPK) worth Rp. 94 billion.

"The Rp94 billion grant is in the form of supporting equipment for clean water management which is projected to be able to produce up to 100 liters of clean water per second," said Kubu Raya Regent Sujiwo in Sungai Raya, Saturday.

He said the grant was a form of collaboration between the central government, the Ministry of Public Works (PU) and Commission V of the DPR RI in encouraging the acceleration of development in the regions.

According to him, the availability of clean water is a crucial need considering that Kubu Raya has a large area and acts as the main buffer for Pontianak City.

"Clean water is a basic need. In this Kubu Raya there are Supadio International Airport and inter-state terminals, so that the attention of the Ministry and Commission V of the DPR RI, especially the Chairman of Commission V Pak Lasarus, continues to be focused on accelerating development in this area," he said.

He added that the existence of the new installation is expected to be able to expand the coverage of clean water services for the community, especially in the hinterland area.

Meanwhile, West Kalimantan BPBPK Head M Yoza Habibi said the coverage of clean water services in Kubu Raya is currently still relatively low. For this reason, BPBPK together with local governments continue to develop, including targeting the construction of Wastewater Processing Installations (IPAL) to expand reach.

"This step is part of a sustainable effort to ensure that people get better access to clean water services in Kubu Raya," said Yoza.

With these asset grants, the Kubu Raya Regency Government targets to significantly improve clean water services while at the same time supporting the quality of life of the people in the strategic area of West Kalimantan.
