JAKARTA - The Kremlin considers United States (US) President Donald Trump is still trying to achieve a resolution to the Ukraine conflict despite Trump saying Russian President Vladimir Putin has disappointed him through his actions.

Trump has expressed disappointment with Moscow's continuing attacks on Ukraine's targets several times even though he is trying to mediate a solution.

On Thursday, the US President said in a press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Putin "has disappointed him".

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, quoted by the Russian state news agency RIA, said Trump's reaction was understandable.

"We assume that the United States, and President Trump personally, have maintained political will and intends to exert efforts to facilitate Ukraine's settlement," Peskov said.

"So, of course, President Trump, say, is quite emotional about this topic. This is completely understandable," he continued.

Putin and other Russian officials praised Trump's efforts to find a solution to the Ukrainian conflict and hold high-level meetings.
