Heavy Rain Accompanied By Lightning And Strong Winds Could Potentially Occur In Parts Of Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Bureau of Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) issued an early warning of heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds that could potentially occur in parts of Indonesia, on Saturday.

In the information quoted by Antara from BMKG website on Saturday, it conveyed the observed cyclonic circulation in the waters west of Bengkulu which forms a convergence area in the Mentawai Islands to Jambi.

Then in the southern Makassar Strait that forms a convergence area that extends from Southeast Sulawesi to West Sulawesi.

Other cyclonic circulations are observed in the northern Halmahera Sea and the South China Sea north of Kalimantan which forms a convergence area that extends from Central Kalimantan to northern Kalimantan.

Other convergence areas are observed extending from Aceh to North Sumatra, from the Mentawai Islands to North Sumatra, from South Kalimantan to East Kalimantan, from Teluk Cendrawasih to West Papua and from eastern Papua to western Papua.

BMKG said that this condition is able to increase the growth potential of rain clouds around the cyclonic circulation area and along the convergence area.

Mentioned, provinces with the potential for heavy rains, accompanied by lightning and strong winds, namely Aceh, Banten, Bengkulu, DKI Jakarta, Gorontalo, Jambi, West Java.

Similar conditions also have the potential to occur in West Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Lampung, Maluku, North Maluku.

Then, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Papua, West Papua, West Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, West Sumatra, South Sumatra, and North Sumatra.
