Transjakarta Admits Bus That Had An Accident In Cakung Was Carrying 4 Passengers

JAKARTA - Head of the Transjakarta Public Relations and CSR Department, Ayu Wardhani, confirmed that Transjakarta, which had an accident in Cakung, was carrying passengers.

"The bus is currently serving. There were no casualties. There were 6 injured, namely 4 customers, 1 driver and 1 resident," he said in a statement received, Friday, September 19, 2025.

A number of victims who were injured have been evacuated to Pondok Kopi Hospital, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta.

"All of them have received treatment at Pondok Kopi Hospital, in the assistance of the Steady Safe and Transjakarta teams," he said.

As is known, Transjakarta buses hit a number of motorcycles, cars and 4 building kiosks belonging to residents in the Cakung area, East Jakarta, Friday, September 19, 2025, morning.

It was later discovered that Transjakarta was driven by a female driver. The accident was caused by a failed brake and the steering wheel allegedly damaged.

Even though at the time of the incident, the Transjakarta bus was operating carrying passengers.

"The victim was carrying 4 passengers, including a Transjakarta driver," the witness said to reporters, Friday, September 19, 2025.

Meanwhile, according to another resident, Wahono, he suspected that the accident was caused by a failed brake because he immediately hit a building.

"It happened at around 05.00 WIB, it was suspected that the brakes failed, there were about four shophouses that were affected because it was straight (a shophouse crash)," said Wahyu.

Wahyu suspects that Transjakarta is on the wrong track, Transjakarta should have come from the Cakung Station flyover, turning yellow but the bus was straight.

"He should have that route from the Cakung Station flyover, he should have immediately turned to the right, I don't know why, this Transjakarta takes a straight current," he said.
