3 Police In Pennsylvania Shot Dead

Three policemen were shot dead, two others seriously injured in Pennsylvania, United States (US). The gunman who was the shooter was shot dead by the police.

The shooting took place in Codorus Township, York County, southeastern Pennsylvania, when police were at the scene of the investigation.

"They were there to follow up on the investigation that started yesterday," said state police commissioner Colonel Christopher Paris.

He declined to elaborate further on the chronology, except that the investigation was "related to household matters."

Three officers were killed and two others who were shot were taken to the nearest hospital.

Local media reported officers were trying to issue a search warrant when the shooting occurred.

Paris said the shooter was shot dead by police. The suspect was not publicly identified and authorities refused to immediately reveal the law enforcement agency where the pools were working.

Governor Josh Shapiro, who came to the hospital to pay his last respects to the fallen officers.

"This is a very tragic and heartbreaking day for York County, for the whole Pennsylvania region," he said.

"It is important for you to know that the families who are grieving today are how proud they are of their loved ones who wear uniforms to keep us safe," he said.

Shapiro also received a call from US Attorney General Pam Bondi offering whatever federal support is needed.
