Four sniffer dogs from the National Police Headquarters and the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Police have begun to be deployed to help search for three missing victims due to flash floods that hit Mauponggo District, Nagekeo Regency on Monday last week.

Nagekeo Police Chief AKBP Rachmat Muchamad Salihi from Nagekeo, Thursday said the four sniffer dogs, two from the NTT Police and two from the National Police Headquarters.

"A number of sniffer dogs arrived on Wednesday (17/9) night, and today at 07.00 WITA, they have started searching for missing victims," said Rachmat, quoted by ANTARA.

He explained that the sniffer dogs deployed consisted of two K9s from the National Police Headquarters, Felicia and Karel (Bian Malinoisras, SAR specialist), as well as two K9 Polda NTT, Bond (Bian Malinois race, Cakum specialist) and Mosa (Ras Doberman, Cakum specialist).

He also said that the deployment of sniffer dogs was a manifestation of the seriousness of the Police in helping disaster-affected communities, especially in accelerating the search for victims who had not been found.

"The presence of Unit K9 from the National Police Headquarters and the NTT Police in Maudonggo District is a tangible manifestation of the Police's concern and commitment to assist in the search for victims of flash floods," said the Police Chief.

He added that with the presence and support of K9 capabilities, searches could be faster and more effective.

Previously, the Head of the NTT Regional Police, Inspector General Pol Rudi Darmoko, said that his party had also deployed 100 personnel to search for victims who had lost independently.
