Dadang Iskandar Sentenced To Life In Prison Case Of Police Shooting Dead Police

The panel of judges at the Padang District Court, West Sumatra, sentenced the former Head of Operations Section of the South Solok Police, Dadang Iskandar, a defendant in the murder case of a fellow police officer.

Dadang Iskandar became a defendant in the alleged murder of a fellow police officer, namely the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Solok Police, AKP Ryanto Ulil Anshari, using a firearm.

"Declaring that the defendant is legally and convincingly proven guilty, sentenced to life imprisonment," said Chief Judge Adityo Danur Utomo in his ruling reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 17.

In their consideration, the panel of judges stated several aggravating things for the defendant Dadang Iskandar, namely that the defendant's actions had left deep sorrow for the victim's family, the defendant's actions were not in accordance with his duties to protect and protect the community.

In addition, the defendant's actions, who came wearing a black shirt, were considered to have tarnished the name of the police institution in the eyes of the public.

The judge also stated in his consideration that there was not a single mitigating factor for the defendant Dadang Iskandar.

Regarding the decision, Public Prosecutor M.Taufiq Yanuarsyah stated that he respected the decision handed down by the panel of judges, which was lighter than his demand, namely the death penalty.

"In principle, we respect the decision of the panel of judges and we see that our indictment, both primary and second primary, has been proven in court," he explained.

As for the difference between the judge's decision and the demands, he said he still respects the judge's decision.

At the previous trial, the Public Prosecutor charged the defendant with the first and second primary charges in the form of the death penalty.

"We have expressed our thoughts over the next seven days to determine whether to appeal or accept the court's decision," he explained.

The defendant's legal adviser, M. Syaukat, also conveyed the same attitude, who expressed his thoughts on the verdict.

The defendant Dadang Iskandar who was presented directly at the trial seemed silent when he heard the judge's decision. Meanwhile, the victim's family who was also present at the trial welcomed the hysteris of the verdict.

The shooting case by Dadang Iskandar against AKP Ryanto Ulil Anshari occurred in November 2024 at the South Solok Police Station.

In the previous trial, the defendant Dadang revealed his motive for shooting the victim because he was triggered by emotion.

"I did the act (shooting the victim) because of the top emotions which made me not know myself, I made a mistake," said the defendant at the trial, Thursday (7/8).
