JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra admitted that he had not heard about President Prabowo Subianto who had prepared a replacement name for National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
According to Yusril, if there is a replacement name for the National Police Chief that has been prepared by the President, it is usually decided by himself without asking other people, including himself.
"That is the authority of the president," said Yusril at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, September 17.
Yusril explained that the replacement of the National Police Chief is regulated in Law Number 2 of 2002 concerning the Indonesian National Police.
The regulation states that the president has the authority to replace the National Police Chief by submitting the name of the new National Police Chief candidate to the House of Representatives (DPR).
After the DPR approves, said Yusril, the new president will inaugurate the new National Police Chief.
"Of course the president usually gives one name or two names," he said.

Previously, member of Commission III of the DPR Rikwanto said that the replacement of the National Police Chief was a prerogative of President Prabowo Subianto.
He also understands that currently the issues related to this matter are already busy on social media and mass media. However, it depends on the consideration of the head of state.
"When or if it is replaced or not the consideration of the President," said Rikwanto.
On the other hand, he said that the efforts to reform the National Police, which were discussed by the government and the issue of changing the National Police Chief, were different things.
"Reformation is about the institution, the body. If the National Police Chief talks about the leadership, the leadership is the President's right," said the retired National Police officer.
According to Rikwanto, the government will later form a team to discuss the reform of the Police, both external and internal teams from the Police.
