High Rainfall, 12 RTs In South Jakarta Soak Water

JAKARTA - High rainfall and overflowing water from the Mampang River flooded 12 neighborhood units (RT) in South Jakarta (Jaksel), Tuesday, September 16.

"Currently, inundation has occurred in 12 RTs in Pela Mampang Village, Mampang Prapatan District," said Head of the Data and Information Center (Kapusdatin) of the DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Mohamad Yohan, ANTARA.

According to Yohan, the water level ranges from 30 centimeters (cm) to 70 cm. Yohan also said that the flood was caused by high-intensity rain that hit the DKI Jakarta area and its surroundings, causing the Mampang River to overflow.

"The water level is about 30-70 cm and this is due to the high rainfall and overflow of the Mampang River," he said.

Yohan added that the DKI Jakarta BPBD mobilized personnel to monitor inundation conditions in each region and coordinate the elements of the Natural Resources Service, Bina Marga Service, Gulkarmat Service to carry out inundation suction.

In addition, Yohan continued, water lines are also ensured to function properly and prepare basic needs for survivors.

"We urge the public to remain careful and alert to potential inundation. In an emergency, immediately call telephone number 112. This service is free and operates for 24 hours non-stop," he said.
