2 Residents Of Burns And 2 Damaged Houses In Melon Gas Explosion In Bandung, Police Intervene

JAKARTA - The Bandung City Police (Polrestabes) handled a case of a 3-kilogram LPG cylinder explosion or melon gas that caused two houses to be damaged in Kiaracondong District, Bandung City.

Kiaracondong Police Chief Kompol Sumartono explained that the explosion occurred at around 08.30 WIB, starting when a resident bought a gas cylinder at the victim's house.

"The gas cylinder used by the victim smelled a leak, but at that time it was not realized. When re-examined by one of the victims, there was an explosion at the location," said Sumartono in Bandung, Tuesday, as quoted by Antara.

As a result of the incident, two victims, namely Nurhayati and Ika, suffered serious burns.

Sumartono said the four victims had now been taken to Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) for medical treatment.

"Currently, initial treatment is being carried out to the puskesmas in Kiaracondong, but for equipment and inadequate medicine, we will immediately refer to Hasan Sadikin Hospital," he said.

Furthermore, he revealed that the Bandung Police Inafis team had been deployed to conduct a crime scene investigation to reveal the cause of the explosion.

At the location there were two gas cylinders that were monitored, but it is possible that only one tube exploded. Later the results of the Inafis team's examination will determine," said Sumartono.

He appealed to residents to immediately bring the gas cylinder to an open space if they smelled a pungent gas as a form of anticipation of the risk of an explosion.
