Pramono Claims Many Other Regions Ask For Grant Assistance To DKI Firefighters

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung claims that many other areas have asked the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government for assistance in granting fire extinguishers (damkar).

In addition, many local governments also invite cooperation with the DKI Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat).

"There are a lot of areas. Some are asking for fire engines, fire extinguishers (light fire extinguishers), and so on," said Pramono, Tuesday, September 16.

However, Pramono did not want to mention which areas asked Jakarta for assistance in granting fire extinguishers. What is clear is that the DKI Provincial Government will provide grants as much as possible.

"I don't want to offend anyone. As long as we can and can afford it, of course we will give it," said Pramono.

In addition, Pramono assessed that the fire department in DKI Jakarta Province is one of the provinces recognized by the world. This is proven by the many achievements of the Jakarta Damkar when participating in competitions abroad.

On the other hand, Pramono assessed that the number of fires that occurred in Jakarta was a sign that several things in Jakarta still needed to be addressed. It is known, in 2025 from January to September there were 1,195 fire incidents in Jakarta.

"The occurrence of the fire incident indicates a number of unfinished homework," he said.

The things that need to be addressed, said Pramono, are the implementation of a fire prevention program that has not been implemented optimally.

Not only that, but the early fire protection system that has been installed does not function properly and the lack of human resources capable of extinguishing the fire at an early stage is an anticipatory measure for fires.

Nevertheless, Pramono said that of the 1,195 fire incidents that occurred throughout 2025, 22 percent or 267 fires could be handled by the community.

Therefore, he expressed his appreciation for the involvement of all elements of society in tackling fires, especially around settlements.

"As the Governor of Jakarta, I sincerely express my gratitude and involvement of all elements of society so that it continues to be improved to ensure that fire management is carried out quickly, safely, and effectively," said Pramono.
